Innovative, Renewable Energy Projects in Mississippi
Trained civil engineer Rudy Warnock has an extensive background in project management and business development. Previously the owner and operator of one of the most successful engineering firms in Mississippi, civil engineer Rudy Warnock has a professional interest in renewable energy projects.
As of 2018, Mississippi generated approximately 3 percent of its total energy needs from renewable sources. Since the state’s geography limits the capacity of wind power, most of the renewable energy is derived from solar power and ethanol. Investments in the state’s clean energy efforts have funded several innovative projects.
A pilot project converting fossil fuel wastewater into energy was established in the city of Laurel. If the process is effective, similar projects will be implemented across the state. Companies are also testing the ability of the Mississippi River to support hydroelectric turbines. Finally, in 2020, plans were approved for a 100-megawatt solar park that will be the largest in the state upon completion.
